Fabrication of the Helen June

Helen June docked at the Sayward Fish and Game Club dock, Kelsey Bay

The biggest decision that I had when starting up the marine charter business, is what platform will best serve customers. What are the needs of the client? What can differentiate our business from the competition? What is the budget? These factors lead me to believe that I should have a custom fishing boat that is unique in many ways and safer than most others.

Having been around boat construction for most of my life and having family members with a high degree of marine building knowledge, there was little outsourcing that was needed to design, weld, and rig the boat. Starting with marine grade aluminium that exceeded Transport Canada requirements and a fully certified welder, construction began in 2014. Two new Mercury 150hp engines were installed in 2023 and are part of the repower and upgrade for the next 10 years of service.
